When: Wednesday, March 27, from 18:30 to 20:30

Where: Via della Lungara 233, Rome

  • Giuseppe Aridon, Senior Vice President Strategy and Competitive Analysis, Telespazio

  • Anna Veneziano, Deputy Secretary General, UNIDROIT

Background:

According to the latest “State of the Canadian Space Sector” report, the space sector generated revenues of $5.5B with a workforce of nearly 10,000. Upstream segment activities related to research, engineering and manufacturing generated revenues of $0.9B, while downstream segment operations, products and services accounted for $4.6B. Export sales emerged as a significant area of growth.

In global terms, the space economy will triple from CAD $435 billion in 2016 to $1.46 trillion in 2040. Many innovations now critical to most organizations resulted from space R&D, and chances are that many future innovations will be sourced in the cosmos as well. As the Global Future Council on Space Technologies predicts a new wave of space-enabled innovation by 2030, this event will provide a forum to the Chamber's sponsors, special guests and key stakeholders to:

  • Improve their understanding of Space Economy

  • Explore future opportunities of this sector

  • Create new connections between leaders and innovators in this field.

Format:

With a view to engaging a new audience and deepening the knowledge of experienced participants, the event will take the format of a moderated panel presentation where speakers will simplify the complexity of the subject by each making a five-minute presentation on one aspect of Space Economy, followed by a Q&A session with the audience. After the panel discussion, the participants will be able to continue the conversation and interact with leaders driving the Space Economy sector.

Objectives:

  • The panel presentation aims to provide participants with:

  • A better understanding of the future of Space Economy

  • Increased awareness of the opportunities and challenges associated with this sector

The panel presentation outcome document will capture key learning from the event and opportunities for future collaboration.
